Making Summer Memories....
I'm trying to keep my promise to, at the very least, write in this section at least once a week. So here's my weekly update. My weekend was pretty full!
I spent an amazing weekend in the mountains with some really great friends. We had so much fun! The fresh air, the silly conversations, the excellent food and the absolutely amazing hosts made for a most enjoyable time for everyone. It's not very often we get to all go camping together, but we sure make the best of it when we do. There's nothing better than being able to spend quality time with really good friends.
Everyone met at my house Friday after work. Our caravan was a pretty comical motley crew. Nothing like 5 random vehicles traipsing off into the woods armed with cell phones, GPS systems and packed to the gills with people, dogs and gear. Guess that's camping in the 21st century for you!
The drive down should only take an hour and a half, but for some reason, we can never make it that quickly. Every time we have gone, it has taken 3 - 4 hours to get there, and has always been something of an adventure. This time our problem was finding a reliable leader that knew where they were going, AND knew how to be followed.
It only took 2 turns out of my neighborhood before our first caravan leader ditched us. With a couple of questionably legal traffic maneuvers, we quickly chose another leader and off we went. It took about an hour and a dinner stop before the new leader decided to ditch us.
A wrong turn, ANOTHER new leader and a slight detour found us on our way again. We did finally catch up to the rest of our party and eventually made it safe and sound to our destination. Our awaiting host just checked his watch, shook his head, and laughed at us as we all pulled in.
We came back early Sunday to help my niece move. There was just enough time to unload the camping gear into the carport and relax for a minute before we got the call she was ready for us. Off we went to unload the first truck. A box truck load and only a few minor injuries later, we got all of their stuff moved into the new place. We hung out for a while to help her arrange a few things and have some dinner. The topic of the dinner conversation?... All our plans for NEXT weekend....
I really want to work on my newsletter this week. (Wish me luck!) With 2 soccer games, classes, homework, and camping clean up chores on top of regular chores, I'm hoping I can still get to it. ...sigh... Where's my crafting time??
Until next time.....
