Chinese Zodiac Boar (Pig): You are a splendid companion -- an intellectual with a very strong need to set difficult goals and carry them out. You are sincere, tolerant and honest but by expecting the same from others you are incredibly naive. Your quest for material goods could be your downfall. The Pig would be best in the arts as an entertainer, or possibly a lawyer. (Found on just about any Chinese restaurant place mat.)

The Boar

Of all God’s children
I have the purest heart.
With innocence and faith,
I walk in Love’s protective light.
By giving of myself freely
I am richer and twice blest.
Bonded to all mankind by
common fellowship,
my goodwill is universal
and knows no bounds.

I AM THE BOAR.

About the Chinese Zodiac Boar (Pig)

The Chinese Zodiac Boar is honest, trustworthy and possesses a great fortitude of spirit. He is incredibly generous to those around him in all things, which can sometimes be to his own detriment. He is very tolerant and forgiving of everyone, and truly only wants peace and harmony. He enjoys gatherings of any kinds, and being involved with all sorts of clubs. He will usually find himself involved in some sort of fund raising in his lifetime. He is always there to help someone in need, and has the strength and stamina to take on any burden.

If you are ever in trouble or have a need, the Boar is the one to call. He will never fail to lend a helping hand, and if he can’t help you personally, he will find someone who can. His sympathy is limitless, and he will always have a shoulder for you to cry on. He will never tell you that you were wrong, even if you are. Instead, he will do all he can to right the situation for you. He is so dependable, that he is often taken for granted.

The Boar will never put up a false front. What you see is what you get with him. He is very honest and sincere, and an all-around nice guy. He has a natural, almost child-like simplicity, and can be very naive to the sinister ways of the world. He is very understanding, and will go out of his way to avoid conflicts of any kind. He hates arguing and fighting, and is a master at bringing two conflicting sides together. His trusting and guileless ways makes him defenseless against deception, though. He can actually be blind to the faults of anyone he trusts. Even when presented with absolute proof of their wrong-doing, he can be in denial for years. It is very difficult for him to imagine someone he cares for, or trusts, would ever take advantage of him.

Don’t think that a Boar doesn’t ever respond to being wronged. He has a very quick temper, but it never lasts very long. It is just not in him to hold a grudge or continue being angry with someone unless he is absolutely forced to. However, if he is pushed past his limits, he can respond savagely and will summon tremendous amounts of energy that enable him to move mountains. More often than not, though, he will give the other person the benefit of the doubt, and quickly forgive and forget. He is so accommodating and tolerant of others, that he just doesn’t see the purpose in holding onto his anger. He is almost always the first one to take the steps required to repair the situation. He is also more apt to keep any suspicions to himself, than he is to act on them. He would much rather sacrifice his own feelings and emotions to achieve harmony.

The Boar is highly intelligent and trustworthy. He has an incredible strength of character, and will never stoop to underhanded means to attain his goals. He is very soft-hearted, and will not find joy in anyone else’s pain and suffering, no matter how called for, or necessary it may be. He is also plagued by a huge conscious, and is often haunted by the guilt of even his smallest offenses.

A Boar does know how to take care of himself, though, and always manages to work things out in his favor in non-offensive ways. He truly believes in miracles, and somehow, miracles seem to follow him around. He will make very lasting and beneficial friendships, and will be incredibly lucky throughout his life in having all of his needs somehow met. There will always be someone there to take care of him, or help him out, even if he never asks them to.

The generosity of the Chinese Zodiac Boar is renowned. No one is more accommodating, helpful or generous than a Boar. He does not understand that his type of generosity is not the standard offered by everyone. He would give you the shirt off his back without complaint, and will actually expect others to do the same. He can’t understand why helping himself to what others have, would be offensive, since all that he has, he gladly shares with anyone. It would serve him well to learn that others are not always as generous as he is, and sometimes it helps to ask permission to use, or have things, before he helps himself.

In his family life, the Boar will love without reservation and with total abandon. He lives for commitments, and his family will be his pride and joy. Caring for them will not be a burden to him, he will be entirely devoted, and will love taking care of their every need. He is considerate and open, and will make a very patient, understanding and tolerant parent. He has a vitality for life and is extremely passionate. He is loyal and thoughtful, and will put his entire heart and soul into his relationships. His biggest downfall in any relationship will be his inability to say “no”. He would do well to find someone who will truly respect him, and cherish his big generous heart, while keeping it carefully and firmly protected.

A Boar is also a very hard worker. His stamina and determination combined with his seemingly boundless supply of energy will find him accomplishing anything he really sets his mind to. He will choose to work hard his entire life, and will share any benefits he receives for that hard work. He tends to be materialistic, but he is entirely unselfish. He loves to share all that he has, and fully enjoys the social status doing this provides. Fortunately, the Boar seems to be blessed with abundance in his life, as his tendency to give away everything he gets, can get the best of him. He will experience a loss of everything, or a bankruptcy, at least once in his lifetime, but his ability to bounce back from even the most extreme of situations, a better person, will see him through it.

Just as the Boar works hard, he likes to play just as hard. He loves the good things in life, and if given the chance, will pursue his own pleasure with the same kind of stamina and determination he applies to his work. He can be zealous in his pursuit of his personal objectives. If he gives in to his negative side, however, he can become fatalistic, and find himself lost in a life of self-gratification and debauchery. This path of negativity will lead to his eventual destruction if it is not held in check, but for the most part, he is an optimist, and only sees the best in the world. Most of his problems will come from being too generous or gullible, and he would do well to let others handle his money. His tendency to share it so easily could be his undoing.

The sign of the Chinese Zodiac Boar has an incredible resiliency, and tends to bounce back from any setback with an even brighter attitude. He can’t be kept down for long, and will more than likely come back even stronger than before. He shrugs off insults and misfortune, looking only at tomorrow. His biggest successes will come from his faith in his own good fortune, his determination to succeed, and his heart-felt generosity.
