Chinese Zodiac Dog: The Dog will never let you down. Born under this sign you are honest and faithful to those you love. You are plagued by constant worry, a sharp tongue and a tendency to be a fault finder. You would make an excellent businessman, activist, teacher or secret agent. (Found on just about any Chinese restaurant place mat.)

The Dog

The martial strains have summoned me
to hear your sorrows,
still your paid.
I am the protector of Justice.
Equality– my sole friend.
My vision is never blurred by cowardice,
my soul never chained.
Life without honor
is life in vain.

I AM THE DOG.

About the Chinese Zodiac Dog

The Chinese Zodiac Dog is very honest, loyal and trustworthy. He likes to be straight forward in all of his dealings, and is all about fair play and justice. He is unprejudiced and very ethical in his thinking, and will always weigh both sides heavily before making up his mind. He can be friendly and outgoing, but is slow to make true friends. Once made, however, they are life-long, and he will protect their rights as fiercely as he protects his own. He is warm and understanding, and he will fight with amazing morals and integrity for what he thinks is right.

A Dog sees the world in black and white. There are no shades of gray for him. He will carefully analyze everyone he comes into contact with. He is highly intelligent, and has a very good judge of character, but will tend to put people into categories of “good” and “bad”. He will be extremely tolerant and overly forgiving of his friends and loved ones, but will tend to be super critical and cold to those he dislikes. Once you have been labeled one way or another by the Dog, it will be almost impossible to lose that label.

The loyalty of a Dog is legendary. No matter what, the Dog will stand by his friends and loved ones through thick and thin. He will defend his friends and loved ones, avidly, and without hesitation, whether or not they deserve to be defended. He is fiercely protective of anyone he has put into his “good” or “friend” category. It may take a while for him to make true friends or alliances, but once he has chosen sides, there is no jumping ship, when the going get’s tough, for a Dog.

The Dog is a very playful and loveable soul. His loyalty and fidelity to his family will not be taken lightly by him, but he will not be possessive or over-bearing. He will make a very attentive and watchful spouse or parent, but will always allow his spouse and children plenty of freedom to express themselves. He will step in with advice when needed, but will rule his family with a very gentle and extremely loving hand. He is very objective, and will not interfere in their choices unless he feels it is absolutely necessary.

When crossed or wronged, a Dog may have a quick flash of anger. He will lash out harshly and aggressively. He possesses an incredibly sharp tongue, and will more than likely submit you to a severe tongue lashing, that you may well remember for quite a while, but then his anger will dissipate as quickly as it flared. However, if he is only suspicious of you, or your wrong doing, he will bide his time until all the evidence is gathered before confronting you. The fair mind of the Dog will not allow him to confront someone without conclusive evidence against them, but you can be sure if he does have a suspicion, he will not stop until all the evidence is collected. He will never use under-handed or devious means to attain his justice, and any anger he exhibits will always be justifiable, but he will be tireless in his efforts to bring about your punishment. Even still, he will not hold a grudge once he has dispensed his form of retribution.

The Dog has a very noble character, and is not one to search out the lime-light. He is very private about his own personal aspirations, and when pressed may become very withdrawn and secretive. He will always be surrounded by powerful allies, and will not hesitate to use them to his advantage, but he tends to shy away from possessing any true power of his own. In fact, he would much prefer to stay in the background, serving others, but his sense of duty, practical nature, and his ability to bring out the best in people will make him a very trusted and fair leader. He is not materialistic, though, and does not care much about money. He has the ability to make it, when he needs it, but it will never rule his decisions. If he does attain fame or a position of power, he will never forget where he came from, nor will he allow money or material things to alter his sense of justice and fair play.

A Dog is tough, and works very well under pressure. He is the one to call on whenever you are in need, as he will come running, without fail. He will do all he can to make any situation better, and will suffer any hardship or deprivation without complaint. He is very good at breaking bad news to others, as he does not beat around the bush. This straight-forward, no-nonsense way of dealing with things make it hard for him to be diplomatic. He tends to say what he thinks, whether or not it will hurt someone’s feelings, but you will always know where you stand with him.

For all of the cheerfulness he outwardly displays, the Dog is quite a pessimist. He tends to think the worst about any situation, and is constantly worrying. When any of his dire predictions come true, it will only add to his pessimistic nature. He is prone to periods of cantankerous behavior and is highly suspicious and untrusting of most people, but this is due to his ability to see things so clearly. He, more than any other, is aware of all of the ugliness of people’s characters and the miscarriages of justice that exist in this world. He will become incredibly cynical towards things, and as he ages, his cynical view on life will increase, but he will still defend any of his chosen causes passionately and without fail.

The Chinese Zodiac Dog is the most likeable sign, as his dealings are always honest, fair and above reproach. Although he can be seen as aggressive and zealous in his pursuit of ultimate justice, his tactics are always pure and full of logic. His intelligence and sense of fair play will make him sought after by many for his advice and opinions. His warm and loving nature makes him a great friend or partner, and you can always trust his instincts and intuition. A Dog’s greatest successes will come from trusting his own good judgment and using his accurate sense of justice and fair play to his own advantage.
