Chinese Zodiac Horse: Your capacity for hard work is amazing. You are your own person-very independent. While intelligent and friendly, you have a strong streak of selfishness and sharp cunning and should guard against being egotistical. Your sign suggests success as an adventurer, scientist, poet, or politician. (Found on just about any Chinese restaurant place mat.)

The Horse

I am the Kaleidoscope of the mind.
I impart light, color and perpetual motion.
I think, I see, I am moved by electric fluidity.
Constant only in my inconstancy,
I am unshackled by mundane holds,
unchecked by sturdy, binding goals.
I run unimpeded through virgin paths.
My spirit unconquered–
my soul forever free.

I AM THE HORSE.

About the Chinese Zodiac Horse

The Chinese Zodiac Horse is a free spirit. He dislikes the restrictions of rigid schedules and strict routines. He makes his own way through life. He is hard working and self-reliant, but likes to play as hard as he works. He is very confident, highly intelligent, with a quick mind and wit. He is normally cheerful, and his charming, high-spirited ways are quite compelling. A Horse will always be surrounded by people.

He has a changeable nature, though, and is prone to change his mind so fast it makes your head spin. He thinks on his feet, and can quickly and easily make any adjustments a situation requires. He gets frustrated when people can’t keep up with him, and is annoyed by long drawn out explanations. Get to the point! A Horse has places to go, people to see and things to do, don’t waste his time.

A Horse tends to keep his own odd hours and likes to create his own schedule. He will feel highly restricted by being forced to follow schedules created by others. He is usually a very active sort, as well. He will more than likely be a highly physical person, loving all kinds of physical exertion. Relaxation for a Horse is what most others would call work! You will not find a Horse idly watching television very often, he would much rather be doing something, and something outdoors is usually best. A Horse is always moving at top speed. Go and stop, that’s all he’s got and you will normally only see him stop when he has completely exhausted himself with his activities. He can be highly competitive, and will love physical games that require both physical skill and mental acuity. His ability to improvise and think on his feet serves him well.

Being such a hard worker, the Horse does have the ability to easily make money, but has little use or care for the security it buys. His career must be demanding and varied, as a Horse is easily bored. He does better when he is in charge, as he rarely submits to authority. He is hard working and highly efficient, but may lack the ability to complete long term projects. But just because he didn’t complete them originally, doesn’t mean he won’t randomly come back to them. He is constantly thinking about a million different things and acting on his many ideas. He may stop one project in the middle to move onto his next one, only to come back to that project later, when another idea strikes him.

He is a born leader, but in order to reap the full benefits of his expertise, he must be allowed to express himself and make his own rules. He is more than capable of doing multiple things at once, and he actually prefers doing things that way. If he isn’t kept busy, he’s a miserable sight indeed! He is a much better business owner, or eccentric project leader than he is a worker bee. His creative imagination and impulsive ways can be used to his great advantage if he finds the right outlet.

Just as with any other part of life, love is no different for the Horse. His impulsive nature makes him quick to fall in love, but just a quick to fall out of it. He is not jealous or possessive by nature, and will not do well with someone who is. He hates restraints and commitments, and will have difficulty creating lasting relationships unless he learns patience. The Horse must also learn to balance his need for freedom with the need of others for commitment and responsibility in order to have successful, long-lasting relationships. He will do much better if allowed to sow his wild oats and mature a little bit before attempting to commit to anything, or trying to settle down.

One of Horse’s biggest challenges in life will be overcoming his impulsiveness and lack of self control in most aspects of his character. He is known for his explosive, quick temper, and he tends to overreact to situations, or jump to conclusions. At times, he can be incredibly stubborn, willful and headstrong. He can be selfish, petty and childish when it comes to getting his own way and he can also be inconsiderate and lack discretion when it comes to the feelings of others. He can be impatient and demanding and always wants people to move as quickly as he would if he were doing what he has asked of them. He can be quick to chastise with harsh reprimands when they do not. Horse also has a tendency to be seen as uncouth or vulgar, and can be irritatingly absentminded or forgetful.

Most of these faults are usually unintentional, and with some gentle encouragement or reminders, would be quickly corrected. Horse just has much too much on his mind at any given time to be overly concerned with the feelings or emotions of others, or to have time for trivial things like manners. His explosive emotional outbursts are over almost as soon as they start, and he will quickly move on to the next situation or challenge. Horse is not one to hold grudges, or dwell on the past. He would do well, however, to learn a little patience and learn to take others feelings or concerns into consideration before speaking or acting.

Even with his quick temper, his impulsive and sometimes changeable nature, Horse is a great one to have on your side. He works well under pressure and you can count on him for original solutions to tricky problems. He is quick witted and has a very warm, friendly and magnetic personality. His ability to persuade others to his way of thinking is amazing, and ensures that he will never be lacking a partner in crime, followers or admirers. Even his impulsiveness is attractive, since most can only dream about doing what Horse does on a whim. Most of his successes will come through hard work, his quick, but brilliant mind, and his desire to overcome the impossible.
