The Chinese Zodiac Monkey is very confident and sure of himself. He is quick-witted, highly intelligent and a good problem solver. He uses all of his skills to his greatest advantage. He is very good at improvising and can easily master anything he sets out to do. He has an extremely magnetic personality that draws people to him with ease.

A Monkey is highly intelligent, and usually has a very good memory. He is incredibly curious, and is in a constant search for new information and answers to his many questions. He also tends to be an inventor, of sorts. Constantly finding new ways to accomplish the impossible. When he puts his mind and his problem solving abilities to work, he can attain any goal he has set for himself.

In business or personal transactions, he is great at closing the deal. Most of the time, he’s able to squeeze out lots of extra perks and benefits in the bargain. He can be a really hard worker, if he receives some sort of compensation or reward, but he never works for free.

A Monkey is very practical, and usually very stingy with his money and time. He very seldom wastes either. He never makes a move without a plan, and always recognizes opportunities, which he jumps at with a calculated objective most only wish they had. His originality and his adept manipulation of any situation makes him perfect for any sort of sales or PR. He is highly sought after for positions of power and influence, but since his efforts to achieve his goals usually are met with very little resistance, the Monkey does not truly enjoy his victories. He is easily bored, and lives only for the challenges life provides. Once something no longer proves challenging, he will quickly move onto something that does. He would find much more joy in life if he were to appreciate his victories a little more.

He is quite charming and clever, but enjoys playing games and tricking people into doing what he wants them to. He has the uncanny ability to get what he wants little by little. Before anyone even realizes what he is doing, he’s achieved his goal. He revels in his own cleverness and brilliant accomplishments, and will not hesitate to tell everyone about them. He can be extremely selfish and egotistical, at times, and his narcissistic tendencies can get quite tiresome. Due to this, Monkey’s popularity seems to go from one extreme to the other, and he has a hard time getting people to really trust him. He somehow manages to get people to like him again, though, even after he has tricked them. His child-like personality, unsinkable attitude and his willingness to try new things is hard to resist.

The sign of the Chinese Zodiac Monkey has a competitive streak a mile wide, and will go to great lengths to ensure his own success. Winning everything in life is one of his favorite challenges. This attitude pervades all aspects of his character, from work, to home, to love. If a Monkey decides he’s actually been in the wrong, which isn’t very often, he will likely shower you with expensive gifts and overwhelming acts of kindness and charity. He will apologize profusely, turn on his sweetest smile and load you up with compliments and flattery. This won’t last long, however, once he gets back into your good graces, or receives your forgiveness, he’s up to his old tricks again! He can be exceedingly difficult to deal with in any type of relationship, as he finds creative ways to justify his bad behavior or his actions. He would have less loss of favor, and be judged less harshly, if he could learn to admit defeat a little more gracefully.

Being the excellent strategist with the high priority of self-preservation he is, he does know to recognize when he has lost all ability to win. He will always take the easy way out of any compromising situation, but if he is trapped in one, his attempts to free himself can be quite ruthless. However, he will fight until the bitter end, if he feels there is still any hope for his success. He is rarely discouraged by his failures, though, as he has the attitude that “tomorrow is another day”, and “nothing lasts forever”. He knows that even if he may not win this fight today, there is still a chance he can win you over tomorrow. He will rest, recoup and plan his new strategy, then hit you with an entirely different tactic. Chances are, you won’t even see him coming, and he’ll succeed on his next time around. But before you start thinking about retaliation or trying to trick the trickster, remember, the Monkey is the master at revenge. His devious and calculating mind, along with his wry sense of humor will leave you reeling in his wake. It will never end well for you if you attempt to challenge a Monkey at his own game.

Monkey’s biggest downfall is his attitude of superiority. He has a difficult time seeing others as his equal, thus lacks respect for most people. He laughs off criticism, accusations and reprimands as if they were jokes. His opinion of himself is so high, he can’t image how others could miss all of his sparkling attributes. Since his own opinion is the only one he gives any true weight, he is never overly concerned with anyone else’s opinion of him or his character. He figures jealousy is their motive, anyway. This doesn’t mean that he won’t take constructive criticism or anyone’s advice, he will, as long as he deems it valuable and he can devise a way to put it to good use. It would serve him well to realize that everyone has their strengths and their weaknesses, including him, and that everyone deserves a little respect.

All in all, the Monkey is warm, spontaneous and a lot of fun to be around. His undauntable attitude can be infectious. He is independent, adaptable and endlessly charming. He has a child-like fascination when he solves a problem or learns something new, and his abilities to attain whatever he desires is unmatched. The word “no” just isn’t in his vocabulary. His greatest successes will come from his ability to charm people with his wit, and from using his keen mind and memory to solve just about any problem or challenge he faces.
