Chinese Zodiac Rabbit (Hare): You are the kind of person that people like to be around-affectionate, obliging, always pleasant. You have a tendency, though, to get too sentimental and seem superficial. Being cautious and conservative, you are successful in business but would also make a good lawyer, diplomat, or actor. (Found on just about any Chinese restaurant place mat.)

The Rabbit

I am in tune with the
pulse of the universe.
In my quiet and solitude
I hear the melodies of the soul.
I float above commonplace
dissent and decay.
I subdue by my ability to conform.
I color my world
in delicate pastel hues.
I epitomize harmony and inner peace.

I AM THE RABBIT.

He knows much more than he shares with others, about everything, and he stores all of that information for his future use. He may appear to be unaffected by harsh words or criticism, but inside he can be affected greatly. Because of this, he is very careful not to put himself into positions or compromising situations that would make him uncomfortable or possibly harm him. He has his own, very effective, ways of settling scores and re-balancing things. He tends to let small matters and mistakes slide without any recourse whatsoever. However, Rabbit never forgets them. He tallies any misdeeds and mistakes, and without warning, will assert his revenge, or abandon you entirely, if they reach a level beyond his tolerance. You can never be sure what a Rabbit is thinking. He can be insensitive and ruthless when his security or privacy is at stake. There is often no warning at all when he strikes back at you, or gives up on you completely. A Rabbit will always come out ahead, and will know exactly the right moment to cut his losses, change his tactics or to make a graceful exit.

If you have something that Rabbit desires, you may as well just give in. He is extremely cunning and can be incredibly devious or unscrupulous, if the situation requires. Preferring subtle requests to outright demands, his techniques for getting what he wants are incomparably effective. He will wine and dine you, shower you in compliments and concede to your every want and desire. When you are convinced of your own invincibility and cleverness, he will strike. Under the guise of perfect congeniality and friendliness, he will get his way. You won’t even know what hit you! He will leave you stunned and in shock, questioning what just happened. He is the master at manipulating situations to his advantage, and he will kill you with his kindness.

Rabbit is warm and gentle and infinitely sympathetic. He will do just about anything, within his means, for his friends, loved ones and coworkers, but he may treat his immediate family with indifference. He is easily bored with normal household duties and hates it when people get too clingy or needy. He detests binding commitments, and does his best to avoid becoming overly involved in anything by passing duties on to others. Rabbit would prefer the safe sidelines to any battlefield, and will avoid any direct conflicts with great dexterity and poise. He truly wants an easy peace and harmony without having to work too hard to achieve it.

When Rabbit is at his worst he will be moody and indifferent and sometimes even brooding and devious, but at his best he will attain great heights because of his ingeniousness. His clever, yet subtle, manipulations of situations to get what he wants is his greatest asset. His successes will come through what appear to be luck, as he has a knack for knowing how to be in the right place at the right time, and when it’s time to get out of harm’s way.
