Chinese Zodiac Sheep (Goat): Except for the knack of always getting off on the wrong foot with people, the Sheep can be charming company. You are elegant and artistic but the first to complain about things. Put aside your pessimism and worry and try to be less dependent on material comforts. You would be best as an actor, gardener, or beachcomber. (Found on just about any Chinese restaurant place mat.)

The Sheep

I am nature’s special child.
I trust and am rewarded by trust.
Fortune smiles upon my countenance.
All things blossom
in the gentleness of my love.
I strive to find beauty in all I behold.
I am fair of face
and full of grace.

I AM THE SHEEP.

About the Chinese Zodiac Sheep (Goat)

The Chinese Zodiac Sheep, or Goat, is kind, gentle and compassionate. This sign is often known as the good Samaritan. He has a subdued outer appearance that hides his inner determination and passion. He is sometimes seen as mild-mannered and shy, but don’t threaten him, or the ones he loves. His response will be swift and explosive, even though he hates fighting. He loves children, animals, his home and nature. He is usually spoiled by those around him, and has an incredible lucky streak. The Sheep will often find himself the beneficiary of money or assets from other people’s wills, or the recipient of expensive gifts.

With his tendencies towards being a spendthrift, a Sheep should not handle his own finances. He tends to overindulge himself and spread his money around as if he had his very own money tree growing in his back yard. He loves to celebrate and have a good time, especially on someone else's dime, but will gladly spend his own money lavishly, as he likes to share all he has with those he loves. Even though it is likely for him to inherit large sums of money in his lifetime, he is just as likely to blow it on senseless extravagances. He loves the finer things in life, and is always impeccably dressed. He spares no expense when it comes to his outward appearance, or his own enjoyment. He must learn to budget, and do without, if he is to truly benefit from his lucky inheritances.

A Sheep’s luck is not limited to just money or assets. It seems to follow him throughout his life. He will seem to “fall” into all sorts of fortunate situations. There will always be someone there to help him out, pick him up, or assist his advancement in life, in some way. There is just something about a Sheep that make people want to take him in and care for him. Because of this, most Sheep will not have to work very hard to achieve their goals.

The working environment of a Sheep must be full of beauty, appreciation and approval. He requires lots of encouragement and praise, and his attitude and mood are greatly effected by his surroundings. He loves beautiful things and has exquisite tastes, so he would do well in some sort of creative, or decorative field. He must have lots of input, praise and support, a free hand, be able to set his own schedule, and work at his own pace, to truly shine. But then shine he will, especially if he has an unlimited budget to work with!

The Sheep uses roundabout, passive tactics to get his way. He has an uncanny knack of being able to turn any of his weaknesses into strengths, and uses subtle hints and insinuations to his advantage. His most outrageous requests will be granted, when he turns his, sedate, but pleading eyes on you. He never uses violence or force to achieve his goals, rather he wears his opponents down with heartfelt emotion and whimpering entreaties. He has been spoiled or pampered by others most of his life, so he believes it is his “right” to get what he wants. If none of his more subtle tactics work, he will enlist the assistance of another. A Sheep will always be surrounded by powerful allies, so you would do well not to push him into using them. His kind and generous nature will always be fiercely protected by others.

The Sheep is a worrier, though, and usually has a very pessimistic outlook on life. He will constantly expect the worst out of any situation. He will regularly bemoan his own shortcomings and eagerly recount the hardships he has faced. Misery and misfortune take a life-long toll on him and he is not able to easily overcome them. He expects others to adamantly oppose his pessimism and go out of their way to cheer him up, so he ensures that his complaining is always overheard by someone else. This tends to make for a bad first impression, but if overcome, the Sheep will make a charming friend or partner.

In a relationship, his indirect ways can be completely frustrating. Where he will gladly tell you all about his hardships, he will beat around the bush when it comes to talking about something that is troubling him. He likes to sulk and sit in stony silence, and he will make you pry it out of him, little by little. If offers of praise, comfort or rewards will not work to get the information, he may need a little bullying. He is impressed by grand gestures of anger and frustration. Just make sure he knows he is still loved, and will be cared for, no matter what the issue is. A Sheep needs a firm, but loving hand, as he is prone to being overly sensitive to everything, and does not take criticism well.

The sign of the Chinese Zodiac Sheep truly is The Hopeless Romantic. He will never forget a special occasion, and will make a point to celebrate them all. He loves candle lit dinners and long walks on a moon drenched beach. Soft music and shared intimate moments win him over, every time. He needs to be careful of who he interacts with though, as he is easily taken in or manipulated by sob stories and romantic gestures. He tends to mother and smother those he loves, so he needs to take care when in a relationship. His smothering ways could outweigh his own romantic gestures.

A Sheep can be more than a little tricky to deal with. His desire not to “rock the boat”, step on anyone’s toes, or upset anyone intentionally, can lead to him doing nothing at all. He hates direct confrontation, and will avoid it at all costs. He would much rather suffer with the status quo, and complain excessively when things don’t work in his favor, than he would to take the lead and make something happen. He can be a little “high maintenance” with the emotional roller coaster he loves to ride, and his excessive self-pity and pessimism. Whatever you do, don’t forget to acknowledge his birthday, or some other monumental moment in his life. It will break his heart, and he will remember the hurt for a long time.

In the right environment, with a strong and loyal support system, a Sheep can accomplish great things. Even though he may have a hard time staying objective and making decisions, if he is allowed free reign to do what he likes, he will surpass everyone’s expectations. Good things come to him naturally, he sees the world through rose colored glasses, and will succeed at times only because he isn’t aware there was a danger of failing. His charming, good-natured, kind ways makes him a desired addition to any team. His greatest accomplishments will come from his subtle requests, his ability to get others to do for him, and his all-around good fortune.
